Book Description :

Tettered Money: Managing Digital Currency Transactions presents a comprehensive discussion of financial transactions using digital currencies, with the author, Gideon Samid, making the case for their expansion in tethered money. Exploring the technical, legal, and historical aspects of digital money, the author discusses how the emerging technology of money specified for a specific need or to perform a particular task will affect society. The ability to dictate, Samid argues, how money is spent could increase control over our lives and resources, enabling us to practice a certain efficiency that would, in due time, become a pillar of civilization. Informative and thought-provoking, the book describes an evolving future that, in some quarters, has already arrived. Delivers an in-depth picture of security issues related to financial transactions Explores recent regulatory developments regarding digital currencies Considers existing cryptocurrencies and alternative payment schemes

Book Description :

Sound money is a form of money which has a known and predictable linkage between a financial instrument and a real world asset, it is this tethering via a payment currency, that enables trust in monetary based payments.Sound money represents the ability to achieve payment finality in the face of the multiplicity of unknowns involved in any trade based transaction. Central Bank “irredeemable fiat-money” represents an untethered form of money that floats uncontrolled until like the untethered kits crashed to the earth at which point the unsound money meets the real world. With the central banksters pandemic created headwind of "Monetized Debt" based unsound money, financial stability demands a return of sound money tethered to the real world not economic theories and pixie dust economics, the banksters call Modern Money Theory.

Book Description :

“How tethered are you?” That’s what Sheldon Richman starts out asking in this indispensable book laying bare “the theory and practice of the welfare state.” Chances are Richman’s answer will widen the eyes even of those who think they’re familiar with the welfare state’s milestones, such as the New Deal. The author digs deeper, unearthing not just milestones but also the very foundation stones of the welfare state. And he shows how deeply welfare-state thinking has penetrated American society. This book exposes the dangers that Americans face with the prospect of socialized medicine. Bringing together the thoughts of twelve eminent advocates of the free-market philosophy, The Dangers of Socialized Medicine explains in an easily readable, well-reasoned way how government policies have caused America’s health-care crisis and why a complete separation of health care and the state is the only real, long-term solution. This book prescribes the tough medicine that Americans need to take to achieve a healthy, prosperous, and free society. What distinguishes Richman’s account of the welfare state is his own consistent adherence to a philosophy of reason and individual rights. He doesn’t compromise — and he sees clearly how others who would defend freedom have compromised, and fatally. The author doesn’t confine himself to attacking welfarism; he also demonstrates the virtue and power of individualism, property, and competition. Richman shows that economic competition is nothing more or less than peaceful cooperation in a climate of freedom.

Book Description :

Less than a decade after the Financial Crisis, we are witnessing the fast emergence of a new financial order driven by three different, yet interconnected, dynamics: first, the rapid application of technology - such as big data, machine learning, and distributed computing - to banking, lending, and investing, in particular with the emergence of virtual currencies and digital finance; second, a disintermediation fuelled by the rise of peer-to-peer lending platforms and crowd investment which challenge the traditional banking model and may, over time, lead to a transformation of the way both retail and corporate customers bank; and, third, a tendency of de-bureaucratisation under which new platforms and technologies challenge established organisational patterns that regulate finance and manage the money supply. These changes are to a significant degree driven by the development of blockchain technology. The aim of this book is to understand the technological and business potential of the blockchain technology and to reflect on its legal challenges. The book mainly focuses on the challenges blockchain technology has so far faced in its first application in the areas of virtual money and finance, as well as those that it will inevitably face (and is partially already facing, as the SEC Investigative Report of June 2017 and an ongoing SEC securities fraud investigation show) as its domain of application expands in other fields of economic activity such as smart contracts and initial coin offerings. The book provides an unparalleled critical analysis of the disruptive potential of this technology for the economy and the legal system and contributes to current thinking on the role of law in harvesting and shaping innovation.

Book Description :

The history of money and its violent and oppressive origins from slavery to war—by the author of Global Slump. In most accounts of the origins of money we are offered pleasant tales in which it arises to the mutual benefit of all parties as a result of barter. But in this groundbreaking study, David McNally reveals the true story of money’s origins and development as one of violence and human bondage. Money’s emergence and its transformation are shown to be intimately connected to the buying and selling of slaves and the waging of war. Blood and Money demonstrates the ways that money has “internalized” its violent origins, making clear that it has become a concentrated force of social power and domination. Where Adam Smith observed that monetary wealth represents “command over labor,” this paradigm shifting book amends his view to define money as comprising the command over persons and their bodies. “This fascinating and informative study, rich in novel insights, treats money not as an abstraction from its social base but as deeply embedded in its essential functions and origins in brutal violence and harsh oppression.” —Noam Chomsky “A fine-grained historical analysis of the interconnection between war, enslavement, finance, and money from classical times to present.” —Jeff Noonan, author of The Troubles of Democracy “McNally casts an unsparing light on the origins of money—and capitalism itself—in this scathing, Marxist-informed account . . . . McNally builds a powerful, richly documented argument that unchecked capitalism prioritizes greed and violence over compassion . . . . [T]his searing academic treatise makes a convincing case.” —Publishers Weekly

Book Description :

If you are in waters of 300 meters or less and want to find rich orebeds, this is the tethered submarine that will find them for you. It has the Ultra Violet photon sources, and the X ray photon sources you need to get strong XRF signals off the bottom. It has the sensors that are able to discern the returning fluorescent photons, and it has the ability to get those signals translated into value elements detected. When you go into deep water to get rich ore, you can't be hunting for it. You have to know exactly where it is. This device will pinpoint the orebed down to 10 centimeters. Not only do you know where the ore is, you know how much of it there is, and what the concentration of the ore is, for 25 value elements that possibly could be found in the sea. In my other patents I describe the panning process, to validate the ore, the elevation process to bring the ore to the surface, and the monetisation process to turn that value element into commercially useable money in the form of bank bills (see US 10176661B2). This patent is about making the decision to go out there and pick up that ore. I have tried to give every imaginable advantage to the investors. They know what they will be getting, how much there is to get, how good it is, what it's worth, and where it is, down to 10 cm --- a tenth of a meter --- less than half a foot. All the other tethered submarines specially designed to use XRF photonics to find value materials in the sea do not exist. This particular was carefully by the designed originator of Photon-DSP Technologies, and holder of the bedrock patent in that field. This tethered submarine exists in this book, with drawings, detailed descriptions, and precise explanations of how the parts fit together and work to produce the desired information result. There are five companies in the USA that could build and operate this. And three more in Europe. And two in the Far East. And one is Australia. Will they?First you have to buy the book. Then mention it to big people with lots of money and engineering assets at their disposal. When big people learn how to do something that will make them a boodle of money, they sometimes follow up, and make it happen. Because of you. The reader, who bought the book and told people about it.Verbatim, this is my Provisional Patent Application 62/973,887 with a filing date of 10/31/2019 and Confirmation NO. 7997. It contains no claims at this point, but it has all the information you need to practice the invention. Most inventors do not try to write their own claims. They look for a retired Patent Examiner to do that for them because it is an extremely specialized skill. I do all my own drawings, and detailed description, and naming of parts. I have been a member of the US Patent Appeals Bar since 1985.Before that I was trained in Photonics at St. John's College in Annapolis Maryland, with studies of Rutherford, Maxwell, Planck, Young, Newton, and Huygens. In earlier years I attended Institut Le Rosey in Rolle Switzerland where I studied Chemistry under the instruction of a Master Chemist. My website, for those who wish to follow my work is -- robertfentongary.com, and I have several Facebook Pages, and am active on Linked In and Twitter as well. The patent here is the third in a series of patents called The Human Integrity Project which is based on the idea of transactions that exchange value for value. Having been raised in Switzerland, this idea is firmly in my mind and habit. I invented Paper Bullion Bank Bill so that people would be more empowered to handle their own gold directly with their own hands, not in imaginary "wallets" in the Nth dimension of virtual space. The last patent in this series, God willing, shall be published by the end of February 2020. It's extremely difficult to get 100 tons of ore up from the bottom of the sea, and do it safely.

THE LAW OF BITCOIN is the definitive guide to navigating the rules in the dynamic world of cryptocurrency. This book is the first of its kind delving into cryptocurrency law in four jurisdictions: Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Written by knowledge leaders in the legal cryptocurrency space, THE LAW OF BITCOIN addresses such topics as the intersection of cryptocurrencies and criminal law, taxation, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing regulations, securities law, consumer protection, negotiable instruments, currency law, and financial regulation. THE LAW OF BITCOIN will be a leading resource and go-to text both for those wishing to understand the basics of how the law affects cryptocurrency and for those in the legal community searching for sophisticated answers to more advanced questions. It is unique because the authors concisely and objectively explain how Bitcoin and bitcoin are lawfully viewed. They provide relevant, up-to-date clarity in a space that is often nebulous, confusing and filled with conflicting partisan information. The authors arrive at what will likely be unpopular conclusions that are only possible because they are not seeking to defend special interest groups. This includes issues such as fungibility which is handled in a manner that flips the conventional narrative within the Bitcoin community on its head, yet is important for any entrepreneur, developer, investor and user in the nascent space. THE LAW OF BITCOIN is a helpful guide to novices and veterans alike. Tim Swanson, author of THE ANATOMY OF A MONEY-LIKE INFORMATIONAL COMMODITY and GREAT CHAIN OF NUMBERS

Book Description :

To people operating in India's economy, actually existing markets are remarkably different from how planners and academics conceive them. From the outside, they appear as demarcated arenas of exchange bound by state-imposed rules. As historical and social realities, however, markets are dynamic, adaptative, and ambiguous spaces. This book delves into this intricate context, exploring Indian markets through the competition and collaboration of those who frame and participate in markets. Anchored in vivid case studies – from colonial property and advertising milieus to today's bazaar and criminal economies – this volume underlines the friction and interdependence between commerce, society, and state. Contributors from history, anthropology, political economy, and development studies synthesize existing scholarly approaches, add new perspectives on Indian capitalism's evolution, and reveal the transactional specificities that underlie the real-world functioning of markets.

Book Description :

Because most people and their countries seek wealth and power, and because money and credit are the biggest single influence on how wealth and power rise and decline, if one does not seek knowledge of how money works, one cannot understand the biggest driver of politics within and between countries; hence one cannot understand how the world order works. If one doesn’t understand how the world order works, one can’t understand the post-pandemic debt tsunami that’s coming. I believe that the times ahead will be radically different from the times we have experienced so far in our lifetimes. It is indeed quite astonishing that money, ever-present in our lives, is so poorly understood; even by many economic experts themselves. This incomprehension stems from the deliberate efforts of the financial sector to “obscure its activities” in order to maintain its omnipotence. This book seeks to address this “crisis of ignorance” by providing an easily understood and comprehensive understanding of money in the hope of empowering people against finance’s grip over their lives and those of their society. The digital revolution post-pandemic, will lead to a radical departure from the traditional model of monetary exchange. The creation of a Digital Financial Market Infrastructure will underpin the unbundling and re-bundling of the functions of money within society. Although digital money itself is not new to modern economies, digital legal tender (DLT), which exists without any Ledger or Central Bank, will facilitate instantaneous peer-to-peer transfers of value in a way that today is impossible. The importance of digital connectedness, will often supersede the importance of macroeconomic links, and lead to the establishment of “Digital Financial Markets” linking the currency to membership of a particular financial market rather than to a specific country. Capitalism underpins wealth generation and hence the existence of a free digital financial market. This book seeks to transform Money into a digital currency, which supports a more equitable access to capital, and ensure its convertibility into a universal World Currency Unit as digital legal tender. Digital currencies without borders may also cause an upheaval of the international monetary system: countries that are socially or digitally integrated with their neighbours may face digital dollarization, and the prevalence of systemically important platforms could lead to the emergence of digital currency areas that transcend national borders. Digital legal tender, within a multiplicity of currencies, ensures that money as a public good, remains a relevant medium of exchange which achieves payment finality to all transactions. Additionally, the universal supranational-currency, the World Currency Unit is defined to support the global transfer of value between any two people on the planet today, without the need for any treaties, or financial service intermediaries. Universal access to capital which is readily convertible to globally trusted units of account combined with a censorship-resistant means of payment underpins global trade, will improve market access for holders of low per-unit value, producers, and consumers in developing and developed countries. The Vision is a Borderless Global Market, underpinning universal wealth creation, which never closes… This book defines the Universe of Discourse(domain) and hence creates a shared conceptual schema (or language) within which to communicate and deploy a Digital Currency, to achieve universal legal finality to all financial transactions.

This fifth edition in the International Engagement on Cyber series focuses on securing critical infrastructure. The centrality of critical infrastructure in the Obama administration's recent cybersecurity initiatives demonstrates the timeliness of this topic for greater review and scholarly input. In this manner, articles in this issue uncover the role and extent of international law and norms, public-private cooperation, as well as novel ways of conceptualizing 'security' in efforts to improve critical infrastructure cybersecurity. Other pieces provide case studies on the telecommunications, power, and energy sectors to generate an in-depth understanding of specific responses to security concerns in different infrastructure areas. Additional contributions examine regulatory activities in cyberspace, the potential value of cryptocurrency, the evolution of cloud computing, cybersecurity in Brazil, as well as the integration of cyber in the military strategies of Russia, China, and the United States. The diversity of these topics demonstrates the Journal's continued commitment to pursuing the myriad facets that compromise the field of cyber.
