Book Description :

Moxibustion is ancient. Even more ancient than needling. In modern acupuncture, however, it is often considered too time-consuming or difficult to master. And yet the classics say: for chronic conditions, moxa has no equal. Coming to the rescue of time-poor, present-day acupuncturists is the Ontake Method from Japan. This innovative technique uses a piece of bamboo filled with burning moxa wool to roll, tap and press on the acupuncture meridians using a metronome programmed to each meridian's frequency. The rhythmic application of heat, frequency and pressure triggers rapid shifts in your patients' body condition and mood. Oran Kivity is a veteran acupuncturist from the UK. The founder of Sayoshi.com, the online directory of Japanese acupuncture, he has dedicated countless hours of clinical observation and study to integrate the knowledge of contemporary Japanese masters. Through writing and teaching, he has ignited interest in Ontake, a remarkable new moxa tool from Japan, developing these dynamic new techniques further and compiling them into this practical handbook of moxibustion. In this book, you will learn: Moxa in Motion presents a step-by-step guide to clinical practice utilising the Ontake Method. Easily integrated into any style of acupuncture, Shiatsu or Tuina, the Ontake Method will boost your results and build your practice.

Acupuncture in Physiotherapy

Acupuncture in Physiotherapy Book
Author : Val Hopwood
Publisher : Butterworth-Heinemann Medical
Release : 2004
ISBN : 0987650XXX
Language : En, Es, Fr & De

GET BOOK

Book Description :

Acupuncture has long been recognised as complementing the practice of physiotherapy. Acupuncture in Physiotherapy is written for physiotherapists who have already received a basic training in acupuncture and who wish to extend their practice and achieve an intermediate standard of knowledge. It links the philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine with the theory and practice of Western science in a single, clearly written and highly readable text. Acupuncture in Physiotherapy addresses the important issues on appropriate acupuncture research methodologies, particularly that of placebo control, and enables the reader to judge the quality of RCT evidence. It also examines more recent research into the mechanisms of acupuncture. Treatment vignettes are included throughout the text to demonstrate the immediate relevance of the sophisticated and subtle TCM thinking to modern physiotherapy practice. Research papers and texts are cited where they support TCM theory. Val Hopwood is an experienced practitioner and is well known for her acupuncture courses. Her ecumenical approach to the subject avoids an abstract separation of the two strands of acupuncture and in its juxtaposition of science and mythology provides a stimulating and original survey. Full of insights, this book will be required reading not only for physiotherapists but any health professional who uses acupuncture in their practice.

Book Description :

Lise Couture has been in the field of Ear Acupuncture for the last twenty seven years and her work is known in many countries including Canada, France, Argentina, Uruguay, U.S.A., Spain and many others by the token of the conferences she gave at the Lyon Symposium in 1994 and in 2006. She was also a guest speaker at the First Chinese Symposium in Toronto in May of 1986. In 2006, she heard about Dr Ulrich Werth’s method with the implants in the ears for treating Parkinson’s. It reminded her Dr Paul Nogier’s words in one of the Auricular Magazines. One day, while treating a man in his clinic, he related that he would have liked to cribble the point with many needles rather than only one: the situation was really chronic and the patient needed help. In her practice she had experienced that feeling too and she is amazed that Dr Werth came out with those micro implants inserted in different points of the ear to stop or slow down the destructive process of the Parkinson’s. D. Lise is now in her third year of practice and research in the field of Ear Acupuncture and Parkinson. At the same time, she keeps treating her regular patients, but at a lower rythm. Like Dr Paul Nogier, she is all ears to the stories of her patients. The answer of the healing is in their life experiences. That is her truth and living passion. If she can have you walk, she’ll do it! D. Lise lives in Ottawa with her son Dannie and husband Michel André Beauvolsk, since 1992.

Book Description :

For the past ten years, Andy Rosenfarb has successfully used acupuncture and Chinese medicine to treat a wide range of eye conditions. His treatments include moxibustion techniques, tuina (massage), microcurrent stimulation, Chinese herbs, and qigong exercises, along with “essential acupuncture” where essential oils are placed on acupuncture points. The culmination of his work—which includes a recent pioneering study involving metabolic testing–is this handbook for healing the kinds of conditions too often considered almost impossibly challenging or irreversible. The first half of Healing Your Eyes with Chinese Medicine explains Traditional Chinese Medicine and its perspective on the eyes, which is based on the idea that the eyes and the brain work in tandem, not isolation. The second half focuses on proven methods derived from Rosenfarb’s practice, including nutritional, supplemental, and lifestyle adjustments. Individual chapters cover eye disorders such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, and many more. This book is intended as a practical manual to help readers understand their eyes and vision more comprehensively, and to learn new, affordable ways for retaining the precious gift of sight. From the Trade Paperback edition.
