L'objectif de cette thèse est d'élaborer des méthodes efficaces pour le débruitage et la super-résolution afin d'améliorer la qualité et la résolution spatiale des images médicales. En particulier, nous sommes motivés par le challenge d'intégrer le problème de débruitage et de super-résolution dans la même formulation. Nos méthodes utilisent des images standards ou d'exemples localisées à proximité de l'image considérée pour le débruitage et/ou pour la super-résolution. Pour le problème de débruitage, nous introduisons trois nouvelles méthodes qui permettent de réduire certains bruits couramment trouvés sur les images médicales. La première méthode est construite sur la base de la Régression Rigide à noyau. Cette méthode peut être appliquée au bruit Gaussien et au bruit Ricien. Pour la deuxième méthode, le débruitage est effectué par le modèle de régression construit sur les K-plus proches voisins. Cette méthode peut être utilisée pour réduire le bruit Gaussien et le bruit Poisson. Nous proposons dans la troisième méthode, un modèle de représentation parcimonieuse pour éliminer le bruit Gaussian sur des images CT à faible dose. Les méthodes de débruitage proposées sont compétitives avec les approches existantes. Pour la super-résolution, nous proposons deux nouvelles méthodes mono-image basées d'exemples. La première méthode est une méthode géométrique par projection sur l'enveloppe convexe. Pour la deuxième méthode, la super-résolution est effectuée via un modèle de représentation parcimonieuse. Les résultats expérimentaux obtenus montrent que les méthodes proposées sont très efficaces pour les images médicales qui sont souvent affectées par les bruits.

A digitally reconstructed heritage site could diminish further harm by using immersive navigation or walkthrough systems for virtual environments. An exciting key element for the viewer is observing fine details of the historic work and viewing monuments in their undamaged form. This book presents image super-resolution methods and techniques for automatically detecting and inpainting damaged regions in heritage monuments, in order to provide an enhanced visual experience. The book presents techniques to obtain higher resolution photographs of the digitally reconstructed monuments, and the resulting images can serve as input to immersive walkthrough systems. It begins with the discussion of two novel techniques for image super-resolution and an approach for inpainting a user-supplied region in the given image, followed by a technique to simultaneously perform super-resolution and inpainting of given missing regions. It then introduces a method for automatically detecting and repairing the damage to dominant facial regions in statues, followed by a few approaches for automatic crack repair in images of heritage scenes. This book is a giant step toward ensuring that the iconic sites of our past are always available, and will never be truly lost.

Finally, the technical contributions in the areas of surveillance, coding and data security, and biometrics and document processing are considered as applications of computer vision and image processing. They discuss some contemporary applications. A few of them are a system for tackling blind curves, a quick reaction target acquisition and tracking system, an algorithm to detect for copy-move forgery based on circle block, a novel visual secret sharing scheme using affine cipher and image interleaving, a finger knuckle print recognition system based on wavelet and Gabor filtering, and a palmprint recognition based on minutiae quadruplets.

The conference gives equal weight to posters and oral presentations, and the selected presentation mode is based on the most appropriate communication medium. The program follows a single-track format, rather than parallel s- sions. Non-overlapping oral and poster sessions ensure that all attendees have the opportunity to interact personally with presenters. As for the numbers, we received a total of 185 submissions. All papers were reviewed by two to four members of the Program Committee. The ?nal selection was carried out by the Conference Chairs. Out of the 185 papers, 65 were - lected for oral presentation and 43 as posters. CAIP is becoming well recognized internationally, and this year’s presentations came from 26 di?erent countries. South Korea proved to be the most active scienti?cally with a total of 16 - cepted papers. At this point, we wish to thank the Program Committee and additional referees for their timely and high-quality reviews. The paper s- mission and review procedure was carried out electronically.
