Book Description :

A cheat sheet for vegans who want to stray the healthy way People choose to become vegan for different reasons, but for some it's tough to stick to such a strict diet. Seagan Eating offers a healthy alternative by motivating you to adopt a "seagan" diet--largely plant-based but including seafood. At the same time, the book discourages "evil" ingredients and addresses many of today's food conundrums (GMOs, organic versus nonorganic, etc.). A recipe section features easy-to-make fish dishes, plus some of Amy's most decadent vegan recipes. As with the authors' first book, The Vegan Cheat Sheet, all recipes are oil-free. It's the ultimate manual for delicious, healthful eating. You will learn to: Maximize your nutrient intake with plant-based, nutrient-dense foods, along with omega 3 rich fish. Enjoy more freedom when preparing meals or dining out by including some seafood in your diet. Prepare satisfying portions by eliminating or lightening up on unhealthy fats. Avoid the "bad boys" (additives, sugars, trans fats, etc.). Use healthy replacements for popular "guilty pleasures" (i.e., fast food and junk food).

Book Description :

In her debut cookbook, acclaimed chef Angela Dimayuga shares her passion for Filipino food with home cooks. Filipinx offers 100 deeply personal recipes—many of them dishes that define home for Angela Dimayuga and the more than four million people of Filipino descent in the United States. The book tells the story of how Dimayuga grew up in an immigrant family in northern California, trained in restaurant kitchens in New York City—learning to make everything from bistro fare to Asian-American cuisine—then returned to her roots, discovering in her family’s home cooking the same intense attention to detail and technique she’d found in fine dining. In this book, Dimayuga puts a fresh spin on classics: adobo, perhaps the Filipino dish best known outside the Philippines, is traditionally built on a trinity of soy sauce, vinegar, and garlic—all pantry staples—but add coconut milk, vinegar, and oil, and it turns lush and silky; ribeye steaks bring extra richness to bistek, gilded with butter and a bright splash of lemon and orange juice. These are the punches of flavor and inspired recipes that home cooks have been longing for. A modern, welcoming resource for this essential cuisine, Filipinx shares exciting and approachable recipes everyone will wholeheartedly embrace in their own kitchens.

Another report published in NutritionFacts.org asserts that a vegan diet is the best way to treat the root causes of acid reflux, citing a meta-analysis published in National Institutes of Health that supports the idea that the vegan diet is made up of nutritional components that directly impact some of the most important root causes of acid reflux and esophageal cancer. What's more, a report in PETA also demonstrates that going vegan can accelerate weight loss. Which means you can treat acid reflux and lose weight at the same time without spending too much on medical interventions or restrictive dieting as well as "healthier" lifestyle approaches, and risking relapse. I know you may be wondering... What other options exist for dealing with acid reflux? What brings about acid reflux in the first place? How exactly do you deal with acid reflux with diet? Book Description :

I'm sure you've heard the term "plant-based" a lot lately, but there appears to be some misunderstanding about what it truly means. To be honest, I assumed "plant-based diet" was just another way of saying "vegan" when I first heard it, but it's actually very different. A vegan diet excludes all animal-based foods (meat, poultry, dairy, eggs, fish, and so on), and many vegans also lead a vegan lifestyle, which excludes the usage of animal-based goods such as leather and wool. While a vegan diet excludes animal products, it does not exclude sugar, refined flours, or processed meals. As we all know, there are plenty of vegan doughnuts, cookies, and croissants available. A "plant-based" diet, on the other hand, consists mostly of nutritious, unprocessed or minimally processed plant-based foods (nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes), with some animal-based goods such as free-range eggs, organic chicken, or wild fish thrown in for good measure. A plant-based diet emphasizes whole foods and unprocessed choices, with the goal of eating a variety of plant foods. Plant-based or plant-forward eating patterns emphasize plant-based foods. This includes nuts, seeds, oils, whole grains, legumes, and beans, in addition to fruits and vegetables. It does not imply that you are a vegetarian or vegan who does not consume meat or dairy products. Rather, you are consuming a greater amount of your meals from plant sources. Vegetarian and Mediterranean diets: What proof do you have that plant-based eating habits are good for you? Plant-based eating patterns, such as the Mediterranean diet and a vegetarian diet, have been the subject of a lot of nutrition study. The Mediterranean diet is focused on plant-based meals, with fish, chicken, eggs, cheese, and yogurt thrown in for good measure, while you eat sweets and meat less often! In both large population studies and randomized clinical trials, the Mediterranean diet has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, certain cancers (specifically colon, breast, and prostate cancer), depression, and frailty in older adults, as well as better mental and physical function. Vegetarian diets have also been linked to improved health, including a reduced risk of coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and longer life. Plant-based diets are high in fiber and phytonutrients, and they include all of the required protein, fats, carbs, vitamins, and minerals for optimal health. Some vegans, however, may need to take a supplement (particularly vitamin B12) to get all of the nutrients they need. Varieties of vegetarian diet: Vegetarian diets exist in a variety of forms and sizes, and you should pick the one that best suits your needs. Vegetarian (sometimes known as lacto-ovo vegetarian) foods contain eggs and dairy products but exclude meat, poultry, fish, and shellfish. Vegan excludes all animal products. Eggs, dairy products, and occasionally meat, poultry, fish, and shellfish are included in a semi-vegetarian or flexitarian diet. Eggs, dairy products, fish, and seafood are all considered pescatarian, while meat and fowl are not. HEALTHY WAYS FOR BEGINNERS TO START EATING A PLANT-BASED DIET Here are some pointers to get you started on a vegan diet. Consume a lot of veggies Change your perspective on meat Choose healthy fats At least once a week, prepare a vegetarian dinner Breakfast should include entire grains Greens are the way to go Make a salad the centerpiece of your dinner Dessert should be fruit. INCREASE YOUR ENERGY, LOSE WEIGHT AND FEEL AMAZING! The high-fat, low-carb vegan keto diet focuses on whole, unprocessed, plant-based foods. Vegan diets have been linked to benefits like weight loss and reduced heart disease and diabetes risks. Certain supplements may be necessary to ensure nutrient needs are met, including iron and vitamins B12 and D. Though research shows that both the vegan diet and the keto diet may benefit your health, studies on the effects of the vegan keto diet are needed to determine if this diet is effective and safe to follow long term. Low-carb, high-fat diets may not be suitable for pregnant women, children and people with certain medical conditions. If you're unsure whether the vegan keto diet is the right choice for you, seek advice from your doctor. On a vegan keto diet, carbs are out (mostly). Fats and proteins from plant-based sources are in. Book Description :

Cancer survivors Domini Kemp and Patricia Daly offer the first comprehensive ketogenic cookbook based on the most exciting new research on nutritional approaches to the prevention and management of cancer. For decades, the ketogenic diet—which shifts the body’s metabolism from burning glucose to burning fat, lowering blood sugar and insulin and resulting in a metabolic state known as ketosis—has been used to successfully manage pediatric epilepsy. More recently, it has been used by the Paleo community as a weight loss strategy. Now emerging research suggests that a ketogenic diet, in conjunction with conventional treatments, also offers new hope for those coping with cancer and other serious disease. With endorsements from leading researchers and oncologists such as Dr. Thomas Seyfried (Cancer as a Metabolic Disease), The Ketogenic Kitchen offers more than 250 recipes, as well as meal plans and comprehensive scientific information about the benefits of a ketogenic diet, with sensible advice to help readers through periods of illness, recovery, and treatment. This North American paperback edition has been updated to include U.S. customary units of measure appearing side-by-side with metric measures.
