Book Description :

Actor Freddie Prinze Jr. shares 75 of his favorite recipes for weeknight meals. Most people know Freddie Prinze Jr. from movies (She's All That, Scooby Doo, Star Wars Rebels) and as one half of beloved Hollywood power couple with Sarah Michelle Gellar. But to family, friends, and co-stars he's always been a terrific father and skilled home cook who prepares delicious meals for his family every night. Freddie grew up in New Mexico cooking with his mother and eating dishes with a ton of flavor and spice from his Puerto Rican heritage. His eggs come New Mexico–style, served with from-scratch biscuits and green-chile gravy. His tacos are the real deal: soft tortillas, homemade salsa, filled with steak layered with quick-pickled cucumbers, or spicy fish dressed with watermelon and Thai chiles. Now in this family-focused cookbook, Freddie teaches fans to cook his mainstays, the recipes that he makes on even the busiest weeknights, as well as more luxurious date night meals. With personal family photos from Freddie and Sarah's beautiful LA home and Freddie's hilarious stories about the life of an actor, husband, and father in Hollywood, Back to the Kitchen shares more than just recipes. It’s an inside look at a beloved movie and TV personality who has acted, cooked, and eaten his way around the world.

A victim of child abuse and neglect, from a young age Knuckles struggles with drug and alcohol addiction. Powerless to escape the noxious scuttlebutt, Knuckles strives to move forward to achieve his career goal. Executive head chef within a prestigious 5* hotel with Michelin star status. Suffering with CPTSD, suicidal thoughts, OCD and a tsunami of professional issues. After three decades as a chef, Knuckles throws in the towel. Book Description :

Kitchen tells the story of the life of the kitchen, through the food we eat now and the way we live, in the most important room of the house. Compendious, informative and utterly engaging, Kitchen brings us feel-good food for cooks and eaters that is comforting but always seductive, nostalgic but with a modern twist — whether express-style easy-exotic recipes for the weekday rush, leisurely slow-cook dishes for weekends and special occasions, or irresistible cakes and cookies as the Domestic Goddess rides again. It answers everyday cooking quandaries — what to give the kids for lunch, how to rustle up a meal for friends in moments, or what to do about those black bananas, wrinkled apples and bullet-hard plums — and since real cooking is so often about leftovers, here one recipe can morph into another... from ham hocks to pea soup and pasties, from chicken to Chinatown salad. This isn't just about being thrifty but about being creative and seeing how recipes come about and evolve. As well as offering the reader a mouthwatering array of inspired new recipes — from clams with chorizo to Guinness gingerbread, from Asian braised beef to flourless chocolate lime cake, from pasta Genovese to Venetian carrot cake — Nigella rounds up her no-nonsense Kitchen Kit and Caboodle must-haves (and, crucially, what isn't needed) in the way of equipment and magical standby ingredients. But above all, she reminds the reader how much pleasure there is to be had in real food and in reclaiming the traditional rhythms of the kitchen, as she cooks to the beat of the heart of the home, creating simple, delicious recipes to make life less complicated. The expansive, lively narrative, with its rich feast of food, makes this new work a natural 21st-century successor to Nigella's classic How To Eat, this time with a wealth of photographs from the instructive to the glorious.

"I was tired of the violence it takes to become a man." In Remembrance Day, Jonathan Savage recounts his memories of growing up under the shadow of wars fought and carried home by his father and grandfather. He struggles against a history long past that punish generations of a family. While his brother finds refuge in the bottle, Jonathan fights a solitary battle against guilt, blame, and betrayal. He shares his memories with his infant son while sitting quietly by a lake. "We tell stories because the soul depends on them," he says. The story is a journey through scattered memories, of misplaced trust and blossoming love. It is about a childhood home. A ravine and a cemetery. And a war whose echoes reverberate still....

Book Description :

Secrets from the Greek Kitchen explores how cooking skills, practices, and knowledge on the island of Kalymnos are reinforced or transformed by contemporary events. Based on more than twenty years of research and the author’s videos of everyday cooking techniques, this rich ethnography treats the kitchen as an environment in which people pursue tasks, display expertise, and confront culturally defined risks. Kalymnian islanders, both women and men, use food as a way of evoking personal and collective memory, creating an elaborate discourse on ingredients, tastes, and recipes. Author David E. Sutton focuses on micropractices in the kitchen, such as the cutting of onions, the use of a can opener, and the rolling of phyllo dough, along with cultural changes, such as the rise of televised cooking shows, to reveal new perspectives on the anthropology of everyday living.
