Oh, God's amazing grace sought me through. His mercy forever rings, bringing me sheer joy and peace, that I take pleasure in rejoicing and growing in his love and greatness. Unknowingly, a devoted, caring doctor had my back. Somehow, by God's divine intervening, he brought me in my rightful place to turn trusting Jesus or else...I'll end up falling prey to Satan's tactics by disobeying God. To my dismay, the reality of it all left me grieving, since I fell in love with this genuine surgeon. Are you feeling lost, hopelessness, regret, or even doubt? This memoir uplifts with humor spurring moments, to your God-given destiny without roadblocks. God's love never fails or forsakes. My dreams came to pass with my husband Kenneth. My family and friends shed their light upon me by their love, support, and set example, making all the difference in my livelihood. My daughter's love always puts a smile in my heart. With the eye of faith believing in God's promises, she will surpass any bondage that binds her, to restoration in the name of Jesus. His truth shall prevail. My therapist saw in me, what I could not see clearly within myself, for the exceptional woman I am today. No longer am I a label; my identity rests assured in Christ Jesus alone. "Love Lifted Me"

Book Description :

Few recent Christian thinkers have been as widely influential as John Howard Yoder (1927-1997). Encompassing a teaching career of more than thirty years and such landmark publications as 'The Politics of Jesus', Yoder's life and thought have profoundly impacted students and colleagues from a broad range of disciplines. In the words of Stanley Hauerwas, Yoder is probably the major theologican/ethicists of this half-century in America and certainly the leading Mennonite theologian of the twentieth century. 'The Wisdom of the Cross' is the only book to provide valuable secondary essays engaging Yoder's central theological concerns, together with a biographical reflection on his life and legacy. Written by scholars both from within and outside of Yoder's Mennonite community, these essays develop the most significant aspects of Yoder's thought - from his powerful defense of Christian pacifism to his seminal analysis of the politics of Jesus to his challenging contributions to Christian social ethics, ecclesiology, and theological method. The book also includes a previously unpublished essay on moral absolutes by Yoder himself. A fitting tribute to Yoder's distinguished career, this volume will be useful to readers new to Yoder's work and to those wishing to probe more deeply into the implications of his thought.

Book Description :

"This Is My Story But His Song" is a true testimony about a girl growing up in Alabama with a loving and caring family. Her mother introduced her to singing at church at the young age of four. Initially, Nan did not enjoy singing because during her childhood, her brothers thought it was the funniest thing to make her cry while singing solos. When they were older, the tears were reversed and the brothers cried as Nan sang like an "Angel." Her troubles started when she wanted to experience life and relationships. This story tells of the many highs and lows which Nan goes through in life as a woman struggling with promiscuity and its consequences; she's a discontented wife with many relationship mishaps. Having succumbed to human weaknesses time and time again, she was exposed. After meeting Luke, Ed and Ron she thought she had love figured out. It wasn't until she met John and her life changed for the better. God gets the glory because Nan always knew where her heart was. She realized that with all of the emptiness from a relationship with men, the only one who could ever make her feel "agape" love was God alone. Lessons her parents taught her as a child followed her through her life. As in 1 Peter, Nan believes she has suffered for Christ's sake and throughout all of her pains and shortcomings, she's able to stand tall, come out of her chrysalis with a song in her heart and emerge into the most "Beautiful, Colorful Butterfly" ever seen. Nan prays that all will be inspired and encouraged knowing that Jesus died for all of our sins and because of His stripes we are healed. Just know that Jesus loves you and He'll meet you where you are.

Book Description :

This is the first book devoted entirely to exploring Žižek's peculiar kind of Paulinism. It seeks to provide a full map of the Marxist philosopher’s interpretations of Paul and critically engage with it. As one of several radical leftists of European critical thought, Žižek embraces the legacy of an ancient apostle in fascinating ways. This work considers Žižek's philosophical and political readings of Paul through the lens of reception history, and argues that through this recent philosophical turn to Paul, notions of the historical and philosophical are reproduced and negotiated anew.

Book Description :

For centuries women, youth, and the poor have been seen as objects of Christian ministry, but rarely as those who do ministry themselves. This is so much the case that in some quarters today ministry and mission are bad words, reeking of older and paternalistic models of Christian "service." In this challenging book, Cheryl Sanders demonstrates how mission can be updated. Far from being regressive or irrelevant in a multicultural, nonpatriarchal world, Christian mission can come alive when it is not just ministry to but ministry by marginalized groups seeking justice. Ministry at the Margins is an important Christian ethicist's rousing call to "find grace to articulate a theology of inclusion and to establish inclusive practices and multicultural perspectives that harmonize with the gospel we preach and honor the Christ we proclaim." Essential reading for pastors, church leaders, students, urban missionaries, and campus ministers.

Book Description :

Long past the time when philosophers from different perspectives had joined the funeral procession that declared the death of God, a renewed interest has arisen in regard to the questions of God and religion in philosophy. The turn to secularization has produced its own opposing force. Although they declared themselves from the start as not being religious, thinkers such as Derrida, Vattimo, Zizek, and Badiou have nonetheless maintained an interest in religion. This book brings some of these philosophical views together to present an overview of the philosophical scene in its dealings with religion, but also to move beyond the outsider's perspective. Reflecting on these philosophical interpretations from a fundamental theological perspective, the authors discover in what way these interpretations can challenge an understanding of today's faith. Bringing together thinkers with an established reputation - Kearney, Caputo, Ward, Desmond, Hart, Armour - along with young scholars, this book challenges a range of perspectives by putting them in a new context.

Book Description :

My grandfather instilled in me as I grew up: "Right is right and right never wronged anybody." He lived what he taught, and will always remain my hero. My grandpa showed me unconditional love, and to me that was hard to comprehend. He believed in me when I didn't believe in me. I remember countless times in my life, when I had gotten myself into trouble, the kind that shows where true friends and family are. Some have accused him of enabling me. I agree, he did enable me, but not in the way that they viciously suppose. By his acts of love, he enabled me to see unconditional love, care, concern, and compassion in a way none of his accusers could or would have, and today I can do the same for other people because he did it for me. Many times in my life I have needed faith to see me through situations and help me get to the place where I could help others when I couldn't even help myself. My grandpa did just that and more for me. It is so important that I not only honor him by making public his thoughts and words of encouragement to me, but also share with others his humanness and hopefully others can be helped who have spent years and copious amounts of money, and energy, trying to reach out to someone who is just hell bent on destruction. My words of encouragement to you today are never give up on those you love. Resources may have to stop flowing, energies may have to be reserved, but never stop letting them know how much you love them and how much you believe in them. So many people have helped me in my life, more than I can write about today, but no one ever stuck with me more than my Grandpa Silas Bragg Bishop did. No one stood with me and encouraged me when I was in the throes of addiction and hurting so bad, like he did. I will always remain loyal to God and trust in His unfailing word because of my Grandpa's instruction.Throughout this book you will get a sense of his love and the agape love of the Father God through him. I am going to share with you as much as I possibly can about how he showed his love for me and others throughout his life. So, sit back, relax and enjoy the read; however once you have read this inspiring book of thoughts, personal letters, and experiences, don't stop there. Go back over it a page or two at a time, study it, let the same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead speak to you and change you like he changed my Grandpa and me. Let the love of God shine through to you, and the persons in your life you are reaching out to help and love. Never take an opportunity for granted though because you never know when a person will enter into eternity, and the last chance they may have to hear the message of hope and love could come at the very time you decide they aren't even listening, so what's the use anyway. I know because since I have entered into this new way of life their have been times when I didn't think people were listening to me and the next I heard they had died, going into eternity with never another chance to speak or show them the love of God again. Just yesterday, (10 May 2005) I heard about someone I worked with, in whom I was endeavoring to reach out to; had been recently killed in an accident. My last chance to speak to this gentleman and encourage him was on the day the boss of the company unjustly fired me. I had bought this man a gift certificate to take his wife out for an ice cream and that was that, I never saw him nor ever will on this earth see him again. Gone forever, snuffed out as a young man, recently retired from the navy with the rest of his life ahead of him. This is why so long as you and the people you are reaching out to have breath in your lungs it is not too late. Don't give up and what ever you do "Don't Quit"! As a friend of mine sings in a song so beautifully, "God will take no pleasure if you quit".

Book Description :

A National Book Award-winning satire about the unchecked power of American capitalism, written more than three decades before the 2008 financial crisis. At the center of J R is J R Vansant, a very average sixth grader from Long Island with torn sneakers, a runny nose, and a juvenile fascination with junk-mail get-rich-quick offers. Responding to one, he sees a small return; soon, he is running a paper empire out of a phone booth in the school hallway. Everyone from the school staff to the municipal government to the squabbling heirs of a player-piano company to the titans of Wall Street and the politicians in Washington will be caught up in the endlessly ballooning bubble of the J R Family of Companies. First published in 1975 and winner of the National Book Award in 1976, J R is an appallingly funny and all-too-prophetic depiction of America’s romance with finance. It is also a book about suburban development and urban decay, divorce proceedings and disputed wills, the crumbling facade of Western civilization and the impossible demands of love and art, with characters ranging from the earnest young composer Edward Bast to the berserk publicist Davidoff. Told almost entirely through dialogue, William Gaddis’s novel is both a literary tour de force and an unsurpassed reckoning with the way we live now.
